Hello, new world.
This post is dedicated to all the freshmen out there. My last entry was dedicated to everyone with a sentiment of departure from doing something that I loved. I received many messages from people that I didn’t know, respected peers in our scene, and very close friends. The response was overwhelming, so thank you guys from the bottom of my heart.
After much thought and reflection, I have decided to come back and continue filming the scene until the scene outgrows me in terms of talent & experience with videography. I know I’ll have to hand down the torch, but I do feel like this is a journey that I must embark on a bit further.
My entry was a way of pointing out the giant elephant sitting in the room, and I’m glad it happened. It made me question myself, and more importantly, everyone that was involved in this situation had a time to reflect on how they really felt about everything. I was able to speak to a lot of people and hear their thoughts. The issues that were brought up had many different roots and I was finally able to see more than just 2 sides, because this was a multi-faceted issue and not truly black & white.
I plan to hopefully continue our video release schedule as long as we are still invited to shows. The formula will be changing soon to accommodate teams’ requests, venue requests, and also what freshmen want. I know that as audience members and blog visitors, you want access and footage. That is what you will get. In terms of how to accommodate teams, we will be asking teams if they want to have any of their footage dated for a future release so they will not have to worry about leaked footage during the competition season. In terms of venues and events, we will continue to promote for your event and assist in marketing current and future endeavors. There will be times when you can find the clips on my work YouTube account for centralized archival purposes and comments, and there will be times when we hand the footage over to other YouTube accounts for releases, but we promise we will fight our hardest to always provide you with the source footage in the highest quality possible where it makes sense.
Over the next year, we will try a few things, but I would like to keep communication open between the everyone and our crew. If there is a suggestion, please send it to us, because we would love to formalize our procedures and make sure it is fair for everyone and their concerns. This is in a way to historically document everything, and we want everything documented in the best light.
I would like to give a big “thank you” to people who I had very genuine conversations with as it made me open my eyes. Linda Domingo, thanks for backing me up in my concerns as always and for giving me the encouragement to continue. Kym Bisnar, you’re a down-a$$ b!sh, and I couldn’t ask for more support for you. Anthony Lee, kinjaz know what not to say and what to say at the right times. Sonia Park, you’re a little ball of positivity and it’s always great hearing your thoughts. Buffmo, no comment necessary, you might hurt me. Matt Gutierrez, it’s always great talking to you and hearing your sincerity. Melissa Adao, I have so much respect for you, so it was great hearing all of your thoughts and hearing your words of encouragement. Emmett Agapay, thank you for your honesty, thoughts, and willingness to open up. Jawn Ha, it’s great hearing from the next generation and understanding where you guys are at. J-Vaughn, thanks for the trip back down memory lane and the much needed look back at how things have changed and will change. Joanna David, thanks for the kick and the push in the right direction and pointing out there is light where there is darkness. If I missed anyone of you, I apologize, but just know that you guys have all played a big role in this decision and it was not my intention to leave out your names. Thank you guys for the comments on my previous article, I read through each one, and they all had their points and it was great to see the voices from something that usually is relatively quiet.
