944 Orange County: October
A huge project that took up a lot of my time last month is finally in print - an article on the Orange County hip hop dance scene for 944 Magazine. As both a dancer and a writer, it feels really good to be able to tell the OC hip hop dance community’s story (at least as much as I could fit into the few pages I was given), and it was quite an endeavor because I wanted to get it just right.
To be honest, this is the first time I have ever gotten emotional when seeing my work in print. I really hope you all enjoy it. And much props to my favorite photographer Louis Trinh of Tikko Studios for his amazing work on all the images. And thanks to Sean Hsieh of That’s Fresh and Mavyn, Danny Batimana and Jed Florano of Team Millennia and Elm Pizarro of Boogiezone for taking the time out to talk with me. Okay enough cheesy talk, go pick up a copy of 944 Orange County - it can be found at shopping areas like Irvine Spectrum (in the cigar shop), University Plaza near UCI (at Z Pizza), various restaurants and many other locations - or you can also read the online version on their website. Click on the magazine icon where it says “California/Orange County.” Page 75. Any feedback/comments/questions are greatly appreciated.
