Well, it looks like Dunkin’ Donuts has run into some controversy with their new ad featuring Rachael Ray because of the scarf. The commercial features Ray wearing a black and white scarf around her neck, and some critics in the ultra-conservative camp are outraged because the scarf is an alleged symbol of Palestinian terrorism. It seems that no dancer’s wardrobe is without one of these types of scarves. I can’t go to a show, class or any other type of dance event without seeing them at least three times. I always thought that fashion always causes some sort of controversy, but someone shouldn’t be pegged as a terrorist for what they are wearing - perhaps unless they happen to be wearing a t-shirt that says, “I’m a terrorist.” What do you guys think of this controversy? Do you see the scarf as a terrorist symbol?
